about

Every building has stories to tell. Along this stretch Stephen Mullen tells us more about the hitherto concealed connections between slavery plantations and the grandeur of buildings like Glasgow Gallery of Modern Art (Goma) which started life as the home of Tobacco Lord William Cunninghame.

Modern art is making different marks on the landscape. Here we can see more work by street artists creating new focal points with a reinterpretation of riverside life.

Music is a vital part of Glasgow. New sounds and influences have been arriving up the river for centuries. Booming trade brought business to pubs like the historic trio at the end of Stockwell Street; the Scotia, Victoria and Clutha bars.

Tragically the Clutha was the scene of a disaster in November 2013 when a helicopter crashed killed ten people. An international campaign is underway to restore the pub and the music.
