about

We began our walk by the impressive fountain at Govan Cross now we are heading towards the equally impressive fountain at Bridgeton Cross.

This takes us to end of Route 3 after a fairly short walk covering a great deal of historic ground through Glasgow Green.

Having left the river behind we are now walking through the streets of the East End towards Bridgeton Cross. Ronnie Scott explains how a rural village became a centre of the textile industry.

Then we meet Sue John of Glasgow Women's Library describing the role of women in Glasgow's development and how the library has grown into a centre of learning.

At Bridgeton Cross we can all pause for a break before taking the final route of this astonishingly varied tour.

Be prepared for many more contrasting insights into a part of the city which has hidden depths, now coming to light thanks to the work of artists, writers, public agencies and community groups all working together.

Once more thanks to Fiona Mackenzie and Greentrax for haunting music from A Good Suit of Clothes.
